Take these questions to a visit

A short note is enough. Bring the questions that matter to you and write down the replies in words you understand.

Start with the purpose

Describe what you hope will change. Ask why the person treating you thinks a medicine belongs in the plan.

  • Which problem are we trying to treat?
  • What exact medicine are you considering, and why?
  • What else could address the same concern?

Ask which product you would receive

“Compounded” describes medicine a pharmacist or doctor prepares to order.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) called it misleading to claim the same proven results for compounded and approved drugs, as of September 26, 2026.

Word help: FDA

The name Food and Drug Administration is shortened to FDA. This US agency reviews medicines for approval.

  • Does this product have drug approval, or was it made to order?
  • What evidence supports this use?
  • Why choose a made-to-order version for my case?
  • Which pharmacy makes and supplies it?

Ask about problems and follow-up

The FDA warning list was reviewed on September 17, 2026. It warns about services where no licensed doctor is available for questions once the medicine has arrived.

Ask for the follow-up plan in writing, so the next step is clear before you leave.

  • Which unwanted effects need a call right away?
  • Who can I reach after the medicine arrives?
  • What happens if I decide to pause or stop?
  • What would lead you to change the plan?

Ask for the full cost in writing

Keep the payment questions beside the medical questions. Ask about the months after any opening offer.

  • Which charges are included?
  • What is charged separately?
  • What will later visits and refills cost?
  • How does payment work if insurance declines?
  • What are the terms for cancelling or ending care?

Keep the answer you understand

Write the answers beside the questions. If a reply leaves you unclear, ask for it another way.

  • The full drug and pharmacy names.
  • The reason for choosing this product.
  • The written cost and follow-up plan.
  • Anything you still want explained.
